Baby ducklings and mother will rejoin the flock soon!

10-day old ducklings are with momma in a separate enclosure for now. They all will join the flock after the little ones get big enough to not fit through our electrified poultry net.

Full Moon Observance Tonight! Tuesday evening: Potluck at 6:30pm, songs and more around the fire at 7)

Come out to hear some of our farm's wonderful talent! And soak up some full moon rays around the campfire. Bring a dish, utensils and plate/bowl if you like. We have some to spare.

We are looking for another micro-loan to cover some expenses this winter and upgrade for next year

As you may know, we crowdfunded micro-loans to begin our first two seasons growing at Branch Mill Organic Farm & Retreat Center. Some of our lenders have elected to receive weekly produce instead of interest, which we appreciate! This is your chance to practice cooperative economics and another way we are Community Supported Agriculture. If you believe in the kind of farm we're building and the programs we host, we need your partnership!

Please be in touch via my email here if you are interested in investing locally in our land-based food business, Moon Phase Farmers. For more about the Slow Money Network see the local chapter website.

Recipe from last weekend's Farm to Table & a Movie

Saturday on the patio we hosted farm dinner and a movie. We screened Ground Operations: Battlefields to Farmfields. Check out the official website here.

Fava Bean Stew

Olive Oil

Ruth's heirloom garlic (available at the honor stand) pressed and chopped

Turmeric partially peeled and chopped

Onions chopped

Salt and Dried Herbs (Thyme, Oregano, Rosemary, Sage)

Potatoes cubed small

Carrots sliced

Celery chopped

Tomatoes

Pre-soaked Fava Beans

Directions: First put on a pot of your water to boil. In the bottom of another pot on high-ish heat saute the garlic, turmeric and onions in oil. Mix in salt and fresh herbs, then toss potatoes, carrots and celery until crisp a bit, but don't burn anything. Add pre-soaked fava beans and pour over boiled water. Bring back to temperature and keep at a hot simmer for maybe an hour or more until fava beans are tender. We don't remove the inner fava bean shell, so ours take longer. Leftovers can be frozen in portions and thawed a day ahead as you desire stew! As we heard echoed by a few guests Saturday evening, this is a medicinal stew!

Here's to your health,

Beto and Angie
